Alhadeff vs Makdisi Pt 2

I went to Saree Makdisi’s talk at the Seymour Centre tonight. One interesting thing worth reporting: Vic Alhadeff of NSW JBD fame said that he opposed the occupation and that it should have ended yesterday. I don’t think this is credible, I’ve never heard him (or the JBD) say they oppose the occupation before. His question was typically asinine, and completely irrelevant to what Makdisi spoke about (almost in a pathological sense throwing in the alleged Palestinian intransigence in refusing to recognise Israel’s right to exist, when if he’d listened to the talk he attended the day before he’d know Makdisi supports a one state solution) , but the interesting thing is that someone in his position should acknowledge that there is an occupation. And, of course, oppose it. This is new. Perhaps there’s a new line of hasbara coming for Diaspora Jewish “supporters of Israel”.
